Presumably, this includes the state of California's Medi-Caid program. Doug's own son used this program to receive cancer treatment. Presumably Doug would prefer he died.
The whole thing is a great example of modern "Conservative" thought. What is striking is the disdain for the poor;
My paycheck is hammered by income taxes, and social security taxes, and medicare taxes so that that money can be given to other people who, frankly, may not deserve it.I'm guessing his son didn't "deserve it"... or maybe he was one of those people who did.. and Doug wants to do away with the programs anyway, because some people may not "deserve it".
Regardless of trying to decide who "deserves" government entitlements, and who do not, the cost of doing away with the programs would be catastrophic. Besides, I'm paying into Social Security now, and I'm damn sure going to cash the checks when I'm eligible.
Wonder if he'll delete my comment.. lol
Maybe you should just stop paying all taxes? After all, the fed is just stealing it to give it to people who you think probably don't deserve it.
But hey, I should give you major cudos.. Every time you've written this post, and you've done it many times, you've never specified which "entitlements" you want to do away with. The way I read your post, you want to do away with all of them. Bravo!
I assume that means Medi-Caid (or in your son's case Medi-Cal) as well?
Do away with Medi-Caid.. poor people crash the ER's, and health care costs sky rocket. Do away with Social Security, and senior citizens end up living in a park eating dog food to survive. Do away with Medi-Care, and watch the huge population of baby boomers try and survive without any health insurance. Do away with disability, and those facing catastrophic health issues might just as well die.
Truly.. it is a Darwinian nightmare.. survival of the fittest, or wealthiest. But hey, the natural consequence of winning is losing.. and there's going to be a whole lot of losers out there, and the government, indeed society, owes them nothing and should not be taking money from you and me to offset the greater cost of letting it all fall apart.
Americans overwhelmingly like the New Deal.. and there's no way that it's going anywhere. With proper administration, it'll be invaluable to the health of the country, and stand the test of time as it has up to this point.
Just a point of fact, but the Supreme Court twice reviewed the "New Deal" and the parts that exist today were ruled Constitutional. That's what the Judicial (co-equal branch) is there for.
I saw something last week.. some prominent Conservative said that poor people are morally flawed. I expect you agree with that? After all, if everyone just worked harder and just behaved in a smarter way, everyone would be fine and dandy.
Your post truly is the pinnacle of Conservative thought. It's awesome. Thanks.
p.s., I've had a curiosity in trying to figure out which comments you approve and which ones you delete. I suspect this is one you'll delete because of "tactics"? There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it that I can discern.
