As Christians, we are trying to make the world better.
It's not fair for others to demonize us when we are trying to save them! Do you think it would be fair to attack paramedics?! NO! So why do you attack Mr Hamm ?
Our country is a religious country and it amazes me that we allow atheists to criticize us! Our children should be shown only what is right - how dare those people try to force our little ones to learn the evident falsehoods of evolution (the failed theory) and turn to Satan?!
The enjoyable part about reading Loon arguments is the constant stream of illogical parallels they draw. This is something Jennifer did over and over.
In this case, criticizing made up "belief", which is more an empty philosophical argument, with a real thing, like the profession of a paramedic, is an analogy that makes perfect sense to a religious nut.
Know why that is?
Because the Loon conceptualizes religion in the exact same manner as something real. The mental idea of Jesus is exactly as real as.. say.. an apple on a tree. There is no difference at all to those with a mental disorder that is borderline schizophrenic. There is a real brain disorder where hallucinations become indistinguishable from reality to some people, and I'm convinced that most religious people have a mild form of this disorder that causes them to be unable to understand that that a character in literature is different than a real object in their hand.
In her mind, arguing the science of biology, the facts and methods, with a person who simply trots out a "God did it" argument is the same as criticizing a valued profession.
I agree that their children should not be "forced" to learn the science behind biology. That's why I keep advocating for a separation of the rational and the irrational.
Oh.. I also advocate for taking the Christians and putting them in very close proximity to the Muslims and let nature take it course.. but that's just simply for entertainment purposes.

Some of the people on that thread are claiming Poe's Law on Virginia.. The thought had occurred to me as well.

A survey of evolution vs. creationism. Nearly two-thirds of Americans are creationists.
Sure.. it's depressing, and evidence of the destructive power of the evangelical movement. However - we can consider the up-side. It's a lot easier to get and maintain a very high paying job when most everyone else is really stupid. Just as you can't be rich without other people being poor, you can't be smart without other people being dumb. It's all relative.
I do admire the French and English for wresting control of their culture from the religious freaks. At a time, and for centuries, they were far more religious than the US ever was.
