Scam

Las Vegas is a fake city.. and it's sole purpose is to take your money. That's something you need to understand if you ever come here. Every single shred of "entertainment".. every single meal.. every single guilty pleasure.. all exists to separate you from your money and not give you anything in return.

Being fairly bright people, John and I realize this going in.. and we expect a certain amount of entertainment (and free drinks) as we lose the money we expect to lose. We calculate out the entertainment value (people watching, getting drunk, etc.) versus the cost, when we play the casino games.

Las Vegas did not live up to it's end of the bargain this time. We know we're going to give them a few hundred dollars and get nothing but silly entertainment in return, but the ROI is less than expected this time. This is a mistake on the part of the casino operators. They should be increasing their payouts in order to capture the "desperate".

...

You know how I've often wondered who could afford those expensive homes.. or expensive cars? Turns out.. not many people could afford any of that shit. Well... I wonder who those people are that can afford Las Vegas? The city is a bubble, exactly like the housing bubble. It will crash and burn.. casinos going bankrupt.. real-estate given away for pennies on the dollar. It's just a matter of time, and not much time at that.

Las Vegas is going to die... and it's a shame.. I love its attitude.. I love its "fuck whatever you want to fuck" style.. but it cannot rip off people who do not have the cash to be ripped off.... and make no mistake.. Las Vegas has never offered anything more than a lottery. It gives you an illusion. It likes to give the impression that if you're smart enough.. if you can play cards a certain way.. if you can manage to wager a certain way, you can make easy money.

It's all a lie.

Las Vegas seems like hell on earth to me. Nothing about it holds any appeal. If it implodes, it won't upset me in the least.
