The administration insists on reserving money in the Wall Street bailout for banks and other financial institutions. It's not terribly surprising. The Bush family is only interested in their own interests.. obviously.. defense contractors.. Halliburton.. spiking oil prices.. financial institutions.
Can anyone really imagine an America without American cars? Really?
George Bush really has no interest in it at all. I imagine he's just petulant, whining because the country despises him, and he's smugly going to walk off to his Dallas McMansion, giving the finger to the country that he fucked up so badly.
GM and Chrysler need money to make it through the month. They can't wait until Obama is sworn in. Bush won't sign the legislation. They'll file chapter 11, and that will be the end. Nobody will buy a car from a company in bankruptcy due to the warranty issue. Millions of people will lose their job, which I suppose is just par for the course. Over a half million people lost their jobs last month... while every other nation refuses to let their auto companies fold, by directly giving them the money they need to survive until the American companies are destroyed.
Meanwhile.. Bear Sterns.. AIG.. Citigroup.. et. all, will be fine. They don't actually make anything. They shuffle paper. They get as much money as they need in order to continue shift wealth from the middle class to the wealthy.
And the right wing loons (even the poor ones) will bitch and moan that "success" is being penalized by making the wealthy pay 4% more in taxes. That's pretty fucking funny.
The economy is imploding.. and the country is still involved in 2 wars whose cost could offset the whole financial meltdown (not to mention the mountain of dead bodies).. and chimpy simply walks away.
.. and most everyone will be driving Japanese cars. Just think about that.
