Bloody Scary

Dr. Myers (not "Mr.", jackass) posted another letter he received from a creationist loon.

I'm usually very wary of posting something that was written by an imbecile, and then arguing against it.. which is one of my favorite Loon's favorite tactics.. but since this one sounded just like the Head Loon himself, and I thought it was pretty representative of the crazy branch of the anti-science crowd, I figured why not?

Mr. Myers,

I understand that you are creationist - that loves God and real authentic science....right!

Since you so love to spend your time tearing others down (like a coward - that can't handle an open and honest discussion) - so you can exult yourself as God. I am sure God has a special plan in store for you. You can't ignore the truth Mr. Myers & most people are not fooling enough to take your DOGMA as "gospel". You are following right after the Devil himself. I can't believe that you are so AFRAID to allow others to hear an open and honest debate.

Your type of thinking is exactly the stuff that Adolf Hitler is made of. I hope that end up in better place than him - because he is going to be burning in Hell forever, and ever, and ever.

BTW -- Don't be surprised if you have a lot of challenges ahead of you. You are messing with the Lord God Almighty.

Kind Regards,

He hits on all Doug's themes.. Actually.. it probably was Doug writing to Dr. Myers..

I honestly grew up in a non-religious environment.. seems like our entire neighborhood was that way. Nobody was ever freaky about Jesus.. and there were never any controversies about holidays. It was just a normal, secular, up-bringing.

For the most part, the entire country was like that until George Bush became President.. and then all of a sudden.. the really fucking insane people came out of the woodwork.

I find it totally bizarre that the person that wrote that letter can actually think it makes sense to them.. I'm baffled that there are more than.. say.. 100 people out of 300 million Americans that can actually rationalize that view as sane.

I'm all for arguing about government policy, or political ideology, but when did being completely in-fucking-sane become a point of discourse? Why is anybody even giving it the slightest legitimacy?

When did we, as a society, stop mocking the bat-shit crazy people?

/update

Rick Warren, last year:

If you’re asking me do I believe in evolution, the answer is no, I don’t.

It's all giving me a headache.. if enough high-profile people say something really insane, it gives credibility to the craziness.. That's why it has to be mocked, aggressively, and immediately.. no matter who the Loon is.
