Obama

Sullivan has an interesting post about Obama - interesting not in what Sullivan has to say, but what a "Conservative" attorney has to say.

An oft missed qualification of Obama, is that he is/was a Constitutional law professor. He certainly does have his own point of view, but he does make the effort to understand the opposing point of view.

Either he's truly interested in the other point of view, contemplating it and perhaps adopting it if it makes sense, or he wants to be armed to the teeth in the case of a debate.

In either case, it's quite obvious the Obama is the polar opposite of George Bush. Where Bush is vacuous, Obama is curious. Where Bush is ignorant, Obama is informed.

Does any of it matter? I'm not sure. The right wing will simply reduce Obama to a "terrorist" loving liberal. That is the role of Faux news. It is the roll of the in-fucking-sane right wing blog-o-sphere, which Doug so helpfully demonstrates for us.

It's sad the way such a nuanced and thoughtful candidate for President is reduced to mere caricatures by the right wing.. but it's not surprising. Really.. the Loon Brigade (and particularly Doug) lack the intellectual capability to engage a debate with Obama on the myriad of details that define who he is.

They'd rather post a photo of Obama, holding the receiver of a phone up-side-down, and call him an idiot. I wonder what goes through somebody's mind when they do that? I'd really like to know.

Doug.. when you posted that photo (or any of the other posts you've made about Obama), what was your goal? Did you think you achieved it? Does it help to reduce a candidate down to a 1 word slogan? Appeaser? Terrorist?

Is that all you're got?
