Doug Gibb's News II

Otherwise known as Faux:

....

I'm obviously a big advocate of free speech. I think all speech is fine. The only exception is libelous statements. For example, if somebody was making patently false claims about some company's product, which damaged the sales of that product. That's not cool.

A couple of weeks ago, I read a story about Brigit Bardo being convicted of "hate speech" in France, for certain claims she made publicly about the local Muslim population. That's so wrong in so many ways. It is patently absurd.

However, where are the limits for Fox News? Are they within their free speech rights to slander Obama as a "terrorist" (with the fist bump and worse), or try to cast him as some inner-city young black guy in a gang?

Is it okay if they make patently false claims.. just lying about him? Is that okay?

What if they claimed Obama had another family in another state? Suppose they claimed that "other woman" is an Al Queda agent? Is that okay?

I don't honestly know. I think there are some rules that networks must comply with, according to the FCC, but I don't know what those rules are. Should Fox have their license yanked?

I'm really not sure. That might open a can of worms.. but it truly is pathetic what the right wing is trying to do to him.

And they claim they aren't racist.
