Say What You Mean, Part XXXIV

What is the deal with conservatives not actually saying what they mean? "Robert" leaves a comment, here.

The least you could do is link my house....lol.

There is a great deal of assumptions in your discussion of my perspective. I didn't say that gays shouldn't be allowed to adopt, and I never once mentioned religion as a basis for my opinions. I am a Christian and believe in the word of God.

I also believe in science, and do not think science and religion are mutually exclusive.

I made a greater point about the sociological aspects of parenthood and offered no judgment or condecension about someone that is homosexual. Unfortuantely, society in general has become so tuned out to objective discussion in our attempts to preserve feelings and find good in everything that we have lost the ability to debate on point.
You're right, I should have linked.. apologies.

Looking at it, you really didn't say anything at all. You simply said there are sociological reasons, related to children, as a basis for denying same-sex couples the right to get married. To what extent of "gender roles" affect a child's up-bringing, you do not say, nor do you substantiate in any manner what-so-ever.

This is the problem I often have with "conservatives". They don't say what they mean. Doug does it constantly, and you're doing it. It makes it difficult to argue against a nebulous point of view that really isn't even a point of view. It's just non-sensical blather.

How you can accuse me of not "debating on point" is silly. You don't even have a point.

How ironic you not articulate your point due to your desire to "preserve feelings". Trust me, I'd rather you'd say what's on your mind and hurt some feelings. If you haven't noticed, I rely a great deal on the exact words of the conservatives. It helps me make my points, so I guess I understand why you would be reluctant to be more verbose.

Interesting, though, that you haven't a problem with same-sex couples adopting, whist simultaneously claiming that same-sex couples are inferior parents. Hmm.. okay.

Science and religion are absolutely mutually exclusive. Science consists of the collection of data through observation and experimentation, and the formulation and testing of hypotheses. Religion is an organizational structure based on a set of "beliefs" related to supernatural claims that cannot be subjected to critical analysis, and their related "rites".

The thread at Jennifer's blog rages on.. twisting into bizzaro world of logical failures at every turn. Robert leaves a note there that I found amusing, because when you give religious nutbags enough space, they invariably say the most vile things imaginable.

Thanks Jonathan for bringing that up. All sin is equal, the only unforgiveable one denying God and Christ.

I think the reason for the respoonse to homosexual issues is that the movement insists on being in your face and demanding things which defy not only religion, but the social order that has stood through all forms of government and times. Those who steal or ly or commit adultery do not demand that we acknowledge their actions as equal to my own "lifestyle" which is to be as honest as I can be and teachmy kids to do so as well.
All sin is equal? Really? A murder the same as a lie? Yow.. some crazy shit.. but, of course, it gets better.

Notice Robert pulls out the "you're all going to hell" claim that the religious freaks are so fond of. Most of the time they just whisper it, so as to not piss people off, but there's Robert.. out front and bold.. just like a real man.

the only unforgiveable one denying God and Christ

Being Jewish is an "unforgivable sin". Being a Muslim is an "unforgivable sin". Being an atheist, or a Diest, or a Hindu, or a Buddhist.. or whatever your religion, or non-religion, might be.. you are committing an "unforgivable sin". And what are the consequences of being unforgivable?

Sometimes I get caught up in debates with people who are fundamentally evil - and give them a shred of credibility of having a rational point of view. That's my mistake. But hey.. at least they cast you into hell with a smile and a wave.

The fact of the matter is, they are, just as Robert demonstrates for us here, crazy as fuck. It does renew my enthusiasm for being "in their face", and nice feelings seeing their institutions and ideology die a slow and painful death.

Assholes

/update

Jenn, I went to check that out on his page. i have no idea how he associated what I said with what he thinks I said.
