Religion is Evil, part XXXIII

Seems like a trivial story, but it's not.

Gere embraced and kissed Shetty on her cheek at the public AIDS awareness event in New Delhi on April 15 last year, prompting Hindu hard-liners to allege the pair had offended the sensibilities of India's traditionally conservative culture.

Hindu activists filed three cases against the pair last year, including one in Jaipur.

The story synopsis is thus;

Richard Gere travels to India to do charitable work.. He gives a woman a kiss on the cheek at a public event, and the Hindus want to have him arrested. An arrest warrant is issued, effectively preventing Gere from ever travelling to India again.

So.. volunteer charitable works.. doing good things for people who need help.. and the Hindu religion responds to something very common in our country by wanting him arrested. Fuck the Hindus.

This is yet another example of the "moral absolutism" I wrote about a few days ago. The Hindu freaks think they are absolutely correct in punishing a man for a peck on the cheek because they think it's "immoral". They are convinced of it, but any rational human being can see that they are crazy as fuck.

No matter where you look, moral absolutists freaks are crazy as fuck, and it derives from their absolute belief in made up bullshit. They are consistent, because they cannot allow any rational and independent thought in those they are trying to control. And through control, comes money... and that's ultimately what it's all about. I wonder how much John McCain's good friend, Pastor Hagee, is worth? Five million? Ten? Probably more. How about Pat Robertson?

Money for nothing, but the most insidious evil, because it comes disguised as a "message from God".

Fuck them. This exact sort of thinking is what allowed innumerable atrocities to be done in "God"'s name throughout history.. You can never be safe from religion while it continues. It's the exact same thinking that leads "Christians" to have "offended sensibilities" when it comes to something like same-sex marriage. It's all rooted in moral absolutism.

Fortunately, another court reversed the Gere arrest warrant.. but if I were Gere, I wouldn't go back.. I'd tell them to go fuck themselves, and do the charitable work for people who aren't crazy as fuck.
