Asshat Quote of the Day

"There are some circumstances where current law would appear clearly to prohibit the use of waterboarding. Other circumstances would present a far closer question."...

"I understand that you and some other members of the committee may feel that I should go further in my review and answer questions concerning the legality of waterboarding under current law," he said. "But I do not think it would be responsible for me, as attorney general, to provide an answer." He added, "I do not believe that it is advisable to address difficult legal questions, about which reasonable minds can and do differ, in the absence of concrete facts and circumstances." - Attorney General Michael Mukasey
The AG doesn't want to "address" the issue, why? Torture violates the law, and because it was authorized at the highest levels of government, you can't have the AG saying that it is against the law.. because you end up with a number of very important people being war criminals.

What the fuck has happened to this country, where torturing prisoners is even debatable? Oh yes.. the neo-conservative movement happened.

What "reasonable minds" can differ?

/update

The AG resorts to the Nuremberg Defense.

I honestly believe that the Bush administration has many parallels to the Hitler "administration", and I know that we're not supposed to compare the two.. We've been lied into a war, with a result of over one million dead human beings, and a trampling of the rule of law.

But Bill Clinton got a blow job!!!1
