I will say this.. Loki, the "constitutional scholar" is crazy... He frames his dialog around his own gospel truth, and how "wrong" everyone else in government is. Apparently one third of the United States government is running amoke... and the Supreme Court should only be doing.. I don't know.. knitting or something.
I did immensely enjoy finally pinning them both down on the "Judeo/Christian" principals argument by asking them to name just one that influences American law.. and after some cricket chirping, Doug pulled out the "thou shalt not kill" argument.. and when confronted with the simple fact that a vast number of cultures, pre-dating Christianity, also proscribed it, he went all One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest on me.
It's hard to imagine that I argue with a guy that thinks mankind dates back 6000 years.. and he actually thinks gay people "choose" to be gay. It's just so hard to debate against someone who is wrong on the fundamentals.
The fact is, just one example of many is the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Part of the funerary process is the confessions...
O Wide-of-stride who comes from On: I have not done evil. That looks familiar, doesn't it? It should, it's also a source of the original "10 Commandments"
O Flame-grasper who comes from Kheraha: I have not robbed.
O Long-nosed who comes from Khmun: I have not coveted.
O Shadow-eater who comes from the cave: I have not stolen.
O Savage-faced who comes from Rosetjau: I have not killed people...
If you missed all the horor.. it can be heard here. The title is "A Discussion With Tom the Liberal Part II".
I still think it should be A Discussion With Tom the Exceptionally Well Part II
