He's been a notorious closet case for years. There isn't any doubt about what he's been up to. But that's not the central issue in this case. Being gay or bi is not a crime.. what he plead guilty to is. I think he was entrapped, and it's ridiculous for cops to do what they did.. but that doesn't change the law.

If Bill Clinton had been pushing legislation that would make getting a blow job from an intern illegal, then there would be an analogy to the Craig situation.

In other words.. the issue isn't that he's gay.. or bi.. The issue is that he's constantly pushed an anti-gay agenda, and that makes him a big giant hypocrite.

I feel sorry for the guy in the sense that he's had to hide his true nature his entire life.. but there's a difference between being in the closet, and being in the closet but an anti-gay hypocrite.

By the way Rick.. the charges are not "alleged". Charges stop being alleged after a conviction.. and Craig pleaded guilty.. meaning that he admitted to the crime.

That we're talking about this at all, and that it's dominating the news, is ridiculous. Could you imagine living your whole life a certain way, and then all of a sudden towards the end of it, you realize you'll not be remembered for your years of government service.. you'll be remembered as the guy that got busted in the john trying to blow a cop.

It's a product of our sexually repressed society. I consider myself to be exceptionally lucky that I'm not hiding anything. I did for a while.. then I said fuck it.. those that would judge me are not worth my bother.

Now.. for this nonsense about Republicans running "wrongdoers" (which apparently means their behavior does not rise to the level of "evildoers") out of Washington.. I give you.. Bob Ney.

Bob Ney remained in Congress until he resigned AFTER he was convicted of corruption charges. He was convicted of corruption charges on October 13, 2006, and resigned from Congress on November 3rd, 2006. The Republicans did not "run him out".

I give you.. Randy "Teh Dukestir" Cunningham. Cunningham remained in Congress until he resigned AFTER he was convicted of corruption charges. He was convicted of corruption charges on November 28, 2005,and resigned from Congress later that day. The Republicans did not "run him out".

Both Ney and Cunningham are currently in a federal prison. There are a string of other Republican toadies that are also currently in prison, many related to the Jack Abrahmoff scandal.

So Rick.. you were obviously completely wrong about Republicans holding their corrupt politicians accountable. Were you aware of the Ney and Cunningham situations and lying, or did you just not know?

And.. were you lying about your claims regarding the "rules of engagement" situation in Iraq, or did you just not know?

Of course, the difference is.. that Craig tried solicit a cop for some gay action.. while Vitter was breaking the law by fucking many prostitutes.. but it's not gay, so it's A-Okay!
