Edumacation

Doug's on a road trip, so his wife is filling in.

If you are curious why young people are barely literate, consider the grammar skills of their teachers.

But hey.. at least the word "anti-American" wasn't tossed around like so much salad.

Most teachers work very hard at what they do. I know that I worked very hard and enjoyed it most of the time, except when kids were defiant and the child's parent had to be called in to help resolve the situation. But we live in the real world, and teachers don't have the luxury to stop class and pick up the phone to call the parent when the child behavior is unacceptable. That is because now these days both parents work fulltime jobs and are not home until late more often not. But, regardless on where you wish to teach in regards to public or private schools, the responsiblity is on the teacher, unfortunately, to act both as teacher and parent because parents are not able to be as involved as they once were. It's a sad thing that parents have decided to relinqish their parental responsibilities to a school system with less at stake in the success of the child, thus burdening in already struggling system.
Parents have "decided" to relinquish their responsibilities? Perhaps they had no choice but to have both work in order to put a roof over their head and food on the table? Perhaps that was caused by the war waged on the middle class by conservatives hell bent on creating a larger income gap between the middle class and the wealthy?

Ya think?
