Al Qaeda Cowardice

The operational commander of troops battling to drive fighters with Al Qaeda from Baquba said Friday that 80 percent of the top Qaeda leaders in the city fled before the American-led offensive began earlier this week. He compared their flight with the escape of Qaeda leaders from Falluja ahead of an American offensive that recaptured that city in 2004.

In an otherwise upbeat assessment, Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, the second-ranking American commander in Iraq, told reporters that leaders of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia had been alerted to the Baquba offensive by widespread public discussion of the American plan to clear the city before the attack began. He portrayed the Qaeda leaders’ escape as cowardice, saying that "when the fight comes, they leave," abandoning "midlevel" Qaeda leaders and fighters to face the might of American troops — just, he said, as they did in Falluja.
Somebody said something about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? But hey, at least the general called the Al Qaeda leaders "cowards". I'm sure he really hurt their feelings. No doubt, the next time Al Qaeda leaders will stay and fight with their AK's and RPG's against Apache attack helicopters and Abrahms tanks.

I know the American military leaders are not complete idiots.. and it should be apparent to them by now that trying to "destroy" Al Qaeda is akin to trying to pick up a blob of mercury off the floor with your fingers. You could spend the next 100 years trying, and it just isn't going to work.

Now - they could try Doug's solution. The could have begun the Baquba Offensive by dropping a nuclear weapon on the city, thus killing Al Qaeda and it's leaders.. and many thousands of innocent men, women, and children.. but hey.. it's the holy war, right!!!!1 Can't let those bastard kids grow up to be Islamists terraists that Doug will have to "pull the trigger" on.

Of course, the sensible among us are thinking.. what the fuck? This shit has been going on for years, and more and more Americans are dying for this stupid shit? And of course.. this leads to the realization that it will continue indefinately.. until there is somebody else "in charge" who is going to end it.

Sure, right wing loons like Doug will seize the opportunity to blame the unmitigated disasters in both Iraq and Afghanistan on the "liberals" - but I really don't fucking care as long as our troops are out of Iraq. His movement is dead anyway. Fuck him.

Some American officers in Baquba have placed blame for the Qaeda leaders' flight on public remarks about the offensive in the days before it began by top American commanders, including Gen. David H. Petraeus, the overall commander in Iraq.
By Doug's definition, "Some American officers" are "anti-American". How dare they criticize the glorious leadership of the 5th glorious crusade to subjugate the Islamic boogeyman!! Why aren't those officers focusing on the positive stories, like how Al Qaeda were driven out of Baquba? Nevermind that they'll regroup someplace else. Hey.. We Won!!!1

The stupidity of this shit is so monumentally absurd it boggles the imagination. I'd like there to be an accounting at some date, but there really won't. Bush will suffer all the wrath. He'll die as the Worst President Evar! Assholes like Doug will simply shift their rhetoric and never accept responsibility for what they've done. Same goes for the MSM.
