Same-sex marriage

I like John Edwards a lot. I'd prefer Al Gore as president, but Edwards would certainly be an excellent choice as well.

Edwards answered a questionnaire from the HRC on gay related issues. He confirmed equal rights for gay people and same-sex couples, with one exception. He does not support full same-sex marriage. He supports a seperate institution that is identical in terms of state and federal rights.

I find that a little odd in that the rationale that would lead one to answer in the affirmative on 10 seperate gay issues would clearly support gay marriage rights in total. If you support everyone being treated the same, you treat everyone the same.

Still, it's a positive.
