"Good-bye America ... you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can't make you be that country unless you want it. It's up to you now." - Cindy SheehanFirst the obligatory, "I feel for her loss". That said, Sheehan was NOT the "Face" of the American anti-war movement. Sheehan was an inarticulate mess, spewing the most ridiculous egotistical drivel.
I understand that she is upset at what she believes this country "has become". She's missing the point entirely. George Bush and Dick Cheney do NOT represent the ideals and honor of America. Americans have and will continue to repudiate them. It is unfair to characterize America based on the conduct of war criminals.
This nation has been a beacon of hope for liberty and justice for over 200 years. It will be again despite what the right wing movement has done.
It's been quite unfortunate the Sheehan has been treated as some sort of spokesman by the media. She does not represent traditional, main-stream, liberal values. She was simply driven by loathing, anger, and yes - ego. Even in this "resignation", it's all about her.
Well, it's not about you Cindy. It's about righting this ship.
