Still alive

Sorry for the light posting. I've been working on getting my new computer up and running (it rox my sox), and haven't been feeling well at all. I did see my doctor today and he took the splints out of my nose, and jammed several long metal objects through to the back of my head and turned the suction on high. It really did hurt like a mother fucker, but I scored more quality drugs from him. The really odd thing is that I've had some numbness on the little nobby thing right behind my two front teeth, and when he was cleaning my nose and sinuses it hurt in my teeth as well. The doc says that the nerves are connected and the numbness should go away.

I go back in two weeks but in the meantime, I can breath through my nose again. It's much much better. It also seems that the bleeding has slowed or stopped entirely. I can't wait to get completely over this and have free flowing air through both sides of my sinuses. Doc says it'll be better than it ever has been once the swelling goes down and it heals completely.

Okay.. one pet peeve. I took the tv tuner out of my old computer and put it in the new one. I had no idea XP Media Center was such a whore. You have to have an "approved" MPEG-2 decoder installed. I have Power DVD 5 installed (it came with a graphics card or something), but it has to be PowerDVD 5.0.2027C to work. It took me eons to figure out why my tv tuner wasn't working after I installed it like I had on my old machine. Microsoft has to hijack that shit and prevent it from working unless one of the "approved" codecs is installed.

Now - I don't mind if the tv tuner didn't work in a MS product (in this case, Media Player 10) without the decoder, but for those bastards to prevent ANOTHER program I bought from working is fucking lame. Long and irritating story short, I have to buy a decoder. It'll only cost like 20 bucks or something, but that's not the issue. The issue is MS fucking with my programs.

If somebody has one of the following.. maybe you can just send me the decoder.

CyberLink PowerDVD 5.0.2027C
CyberLink PowerDVD 6
CyberLink PowerDVD 6.0.1102
Intervideo, Inc. WinDVD 5
Intervideo, Inc. WinDVD 5.0 Build 11.670
NVIDIA Corporation NVIDIA PureVideo DVD Decoder
NVIDIA Corporation NVIDIA NVTV DVD/PVR software

/edit

Nevermind.. Google > Microsoft

just a little over a year and a half ago i had to get my deviated septum fixed and they had to do the whole splint thing, huge metal rods pushing on the sensitive spots in the back. it hurt me so bad i cried and the doctor felt horrible and almost cried himself. i remember hearing him say with a broken heart 'oh god i made her cry.' i guess the next thing they will have you do is rinse w/ saline solution over a bowl/sink to help clear it out. anyway - just thought i'd let you know that i know exactly what you're going thru and it does suck and hurt. hope you have a speedy recovery. :)

Yep.. I got the whole saline thing to do also.. but it didn't hurt getting the splints put in since I was out cold, but taking them out really hurt. Imagine giving birth through your nose kind of hurt.

I'm feeling quite a bit better today.. the steroids are awesome. I'm not draining much through my nose now and I think I'll be top notch in a week or so. Breathing seems so much better than it used to be.

I remember getting mine out and almost kicking the doctor in the nuts! On a bleeker note, 10 years later, I am having sinus issues again. I was told they would never bother me again. They lied! The headaches are back.
