You might wonder how dangerous it is to expose children to curse words. I have never seen a scientific study on this topic but it’s easy to calculate the danger. For example, parents let children ride bicycles on the street. But parents do not allow children to hear vulgar words. Therefore we can deduce that cursing is more dangerous than being hit by a car. - Scott AdamsThat is why I use curse words in certain contexts. For example, if I'm at work and giving a presentation on a technical topic, I'm not going to say "The new encoder is a fucking piece of shit." I'll say, "The encoder is not functioning as anticipated." However, if I'm watching a football game, and when my team's fieldgoal kicker lines up for a last second field goal to win the game, has the kick blocked where it is picked up by the opposing team and run to mid-field, and a flag is thrown for a 15 yard face mask, advancing the other team to field goal range, and even though there is no time left on the clock the other team gets a field goal chance to win the game because the game cannot end when a penalty is made, and the other kicker makes the long field goal to win the game.. then I might just respond, "you have got to be fucking kidding me."
