I just got an email that the DBA (database administrator) of the Veterans Administration is retiring. I've chatted, well, humbly groveled at his magnificence, quite a few times over the last few years with Cameron. I had no idea he was near retirement age as he sounded like he was a 30 year old on the phone.
If I were to retire, it wouldn't be any big deal, but Cam retiring is a huge deal. He's a Ph.d, and the most alpha of alpha geeks in the United States Federal Government.. yes, that's a big deal.
I suppose if he were to suddenly just stop doing IT work it would be a huge change for him to go from guru to nothing.. but I'll bet he makes a mint more consulting back to the VA as a contractor.
He also looks a bit like Matt Cooper.. hmmm..
