Yet another Quote of the Day

"As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality." - President George Washington, 1790
Again, this is why I consider myself a "liberal" - and those who are "conservative", who oppose equal rights for all, are the ultimate anti-American. They stand in direct opposition to the ideals of this nation, and while "freedom of speech" means everyone has the right to believe and say what they want, to vote the way they want, to hate who they want, it is important that the clear record of our past be known to all Americans, so each can decide for themselves which ideal they support.

I happen to believe that the more informed a person is, the more liberal they are. The dumbing down of America is allowing the sewer pit of right wing conservatism to corrupt our moral compass.

Thank god for the historical record of the bravest of Americans. Without it, the religious right wing conservative attempt to re-write history might actually succeed.
