Stating the obvious

I have never seen a sign in the weekly vigil calling for an end to terrorism. Strange for those committed to "peace".

From Sullivan.. he bemoans that some liberals are denouncing Israel, yet they never seem to denounce Islamic terrorism.

Well, DUH.

The implication, or course, is that these liberals actually support terrorism because they don't constantly denounce it. That's defective logic, and dishonext commentary that has become a hallmark of the right wing.

So - let me just say it here, in case any one has any misconceptions about my point of view, and I dare suspect it is the common point of view of liberals and progressive.

We detest radical Islamic terrorism. We support any sovereign nation defending itself against crazed terrorists, including the strongest military response directed at the terrorists.

You know.. that goes without saying.. but just to make all the really stupid people happy, I said it again, okay?

Now - that said.. Israel bombing the fuck out of Lebanese civilians and infrastructure in response to the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers is excessive. Yes, I know Israel is targeting Hezbollah, but they are also targeting hospitals, and power plants and civilian apartment buildings, and many other important infrastructure in Lebanon.

The middle east is burning down. The Christian evangellicals are in breathless orgy over the coming rapture. The Mullahs in Iran are ready to cement their theocracy in bloody war against Israel. The Bushies are ramping up arms shipments to Israel, and basking in the coming glory of the new crusades..

And many of us are sitting around wondering how so many people could be so fucking insane. It's very strange.
