One of the cool things about the "blog-o-sphere", at least as far as political commentary goes, is that identity really has nothing to do with your writing. Is what a person saying correct or not? Does that depend on knowing their name and what they do for a living? No, it does not.
So, what we knew about Glenn was that he's in his 30's and worked as a lawyer in New York for 10 years. That's about it. But, in response to the really nasty attacks from the nutzoid right wingers, he's published a mini-biography of himself on his blog, including this bit;
I've read repeatedly that I'm a closeted homosexual and even that I sued to keep my sexual orientation a secret. And needless to say, a central part of the ad hominem attacks from pro-Bush bloggers has now become a homophobic concentration on such matters.Glenn goes onto to explain how his partner is Brazillian, and because the U.S. immigration laws do not recognize that relationship, it causes them a great deal of hassle.
I've been openly gay for 20 years. Despite the claims that I have tried to hide this and even sued to keep it a secret, the way the investigative geniuses of the right-wing blogosphere "discovered" that I was gay was that my partner and I commenced a lawsuit in 1996 which, among other things, sought a ruling that the "spousal communication" privilege statute in New York..
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this.. other than to say.. oh hey.. Glenn's a homo too.. which is cool and all. But more to the point, I had to go find a pic to see if he's cute.. Not my type.. damnit..
