"I trust God speaks through me. Without that, I couldn’t do my job."Normally, we refer to that as "delusional", and recommend a drug therapy regime.
-- President Bush, quoted in the Lancaster New Era, during a private meeting with an Amish group.
On a slightly more serious note, it does explain why Bush appears to be supremely confident in all that he does. He honestly believes that whatever he decides (as he is the "decider") is the right thing because he is personally being guided by the hand of God.
In other words.. he's like the Pope.. infallible..

The Misquotable Bush
"I trust God speaks through me. Without that, I couldn't do my job."
-- statement attributed to President Bush in the Lancaster (Pa.) New Era from a private meeting with Amish families on July 9. The White House said Bush said no such thing.
I find this interesting.

Abstract (Document Summary)
In July 2004, he stopped to campaign with some Amish folks at Lapp Electric Service in Smoketown, Pa. Just as the meeting ended, according to Mennonite Weekly Review columnist Jack Brubaker, told the group: "I trust God speaks through me. Without that I couldn't also produced White House denials that Bush used those words.
"President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan. and then God would tell me, George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq. . . . And I did." This sounds much like the original Haaretz version.
allegedly said God had now told him to "go get the Palestinians their state."
Brubaker, in a follow-up column, said he checked with his source, an Amish reporter, who rechecked with attendees and had gotten several of them. "But Bush has said similar things on other occasions," Brubaker noted, citing Bob Woodward's "Plan of Attack," where
"surely not going to justify the war based on God . . . Nevertheless . . . I pray I be as good a messenger of his will as possible."
I'm not denying the fact that pres. Bush has repeatedly used his faith in God as a tool in his decision making, but this one is just a little too controversial for me.
