Holy war

Ted speaks, you read:

I know it's rather moonbatty... but the incompetence is so severe that it seems impossible they can be that stupid. If you were trying to provoke a holy war to usher in the "end times", could you do it any better than Bush co. has so far?

This is the fundamental problem I have with conservatives, and I had this exact same conversation with the winger in my row here at work. All they think about is killing, period. It's all about the war, and "defending ourselves". The whole "9/11 changed everything" mentality is an unmitigated disaster, because if 9/11 taught us anything, it's that there can never be a true national defense.

That's the concept I couldn't get through to this guy. He seems to think we need "better security", "better military".. "inspect all the cargo", and he wants more "racial profiling", etc. The concept that I simply cannot get through to him is no amount of any of that shit will prevent a terrorist attack. I cannot believe that concept does not occur to him.

So, why hasn't a nuke gone off in New York? Because they don't want to do it. That can be the only reason.

What the conservatives leave out of the discussion is addressing why the radical Muslims want to attack us. They act as if our behavior has been exemplary and they are baffled that anyone would be anything other than quite grateful to us. Rall's editorial points out why that's simply untrue.

To solve this problem, you only have 2 options. Either you figure out a way to kill 1 billion Muslims, or you fix the reason why they want to attack you. That's all you've got.

Hand in hand with that, you have to combat religion. It's crucial, and just as surely as the Christian right wing is trying to hijack American culture, so does the Muslim right wing. Sullivan posted today;

In Sweden, the new world struggle against fundamentalist politics continues. The largest Muslim group in Sweden is demanding complete separation from liberal society, the inculcation of sexist legal norms, and the de facto partition of the country into a zone for the faithful and a zone for the infidels:

The proposals include allowing imams into state (public) schools to give Muslim children separate lessons in Islam and their parents' native languages. The letter also said that boys and girls should have separate swimming lessons and that divorces between Muslims should be approved by an imam.

That's in Sweden! Fortunately, their government refuses. The Muslims simply cannot carve out their own society within another country. That is an invitation to disaster. If you want to live in Sweden, you adopt the Swedish culture.. or get the fuck out..

I cannot begin to fathom how vile that is. The Muslims must leave Sweden, or adopt every facet of their culture.

In the end, if you look at the root of all of these issues, the problem is fundamentalist religion. Because the United States foreign policy amounts to nothing more than bombs, the Muslim institutions will have great influence and incite jihad. Only by addressing the real issues will you be able to attack the Muslims religion itself by convincing Muslims that they don't need that bullshit religion anymore.

The level of danger is extraordinary and I am convinced that the destruction of organized religion world wide is the only way we'll survive the next 100 years.
