Get 'em young

I love Americablog.. they just post the coolest shit ever....

(AgapePress) - A Texas public school district could soon find itself in court for allegedly violating the free-speech rights of a Christian.

Last spring Janice Colston, a Christian woman who lives outside of Dallas, was distributing religious literature on a public sidewalk outside Crowley High School when administrators forced her to move to the end of the street, preventing contact with students. Believing that her right to free speech was being denied, Colston sought legal advice from the Liberty Legal Institute in nearby Plano, then tried several times to resolve the issue with school officials, to no avail.

Now Liberty Legal has sent a demand letter to the Crowley Independent School District, requesting that she be permitted to distribute the literature on the public sidewalk with no interference from school officials. Liberty Legal's Hiram Sasser says the Texas grandmother is being denied a right that every citizen has.

"We sent a letter to the school board asking them to stop this outrageous conduct, and to affirm that the First Amendment protects the right of all citizens to share their religious faith on a public sidewalk, whether it's in front of a school or in front of a courthouse," the attorney explains.
Coincidentally, I'm in Plano as I type this. That's where the place I often go to is located.

I remember when I first moved to Texas, I got an apartment in Plano. A stone's throw away, I saw this huge stadium. I thought it had to be a stadium for a minor league baseball team, or something along those lines. Turned out, it's a church... that holds 75,000 people. That's no joke. It's like the god damn Rose Bowl game there every Sunday. Imagine the money they are raking in.

So, ya.. I'm all about 1st amendment rights, and when push comes to shove, a person in public has the right to stand there and say what they want....

But - here's an interesting twist to ponder....

Suppose Grandma was standing there saying filthy and vile things to kids. Suppose she was cursing up a storm, and being sexually vulgar, and so on. Does she have the right to do that under the 1st amendment? Probably not..

So... extend the analogy to Christianity, at least as far as the Christianity that Grandma practices. It's ugly, filthy, and vile, and she shouldn't be allowed to froth at the mouth and try to recruit vulnerable kids into their cult.

Which has killed more people, sex or Christianity? That's an easy one, isn't it? So, if Grandma isn't allowed to stand there and shout sexual vulgarities at kids, she for damn sure shouldn't be allowed to shout YAY JEBUS at the kids.

But, this is yet another example of Bush enabled bat-shit crazy activity. Whoever has brainwashed Grandma has convinced her that she needs to "save souls", when in reality, she's just recruiting more stooges to give them money. Recruit a 10 year old now, and maybe in 15 years he'll start giving the church money.

That's the scam they are running... quite effectively I might add..
