Speedy Gonzales

Ever since I got that speeding ticket in July, I've been doing my best to respect speed limits. It's not easy.

I just called my ticket attorney to find out what's going on, and his assistant tells me that the court date is scheduled for September 1st. Apparently they keep bouncing the schedule around to make it a pain in the ass for the cop to keep showing up, until finally he doesn't show and the ticket gets dismissed.

Now, I don't necessarily think it's particularly "ethical" to work the system like that, but I feel zero remorse as the ticket was totally bogus. As I mentioned in July, I was singled out and written up for a speed I was not doing.

** update **

Well, shoot.. I just googled my attorney and the first hit was to a message board, which a person writes:

(my attorney) will handle Collin county cases. Cops here are notorious about showing up on the court dates so the common lawyer practice of delaying court dates and expecting the cop to not show doesnt really work. Best solution may be to get deferred and lay low.
Damnit..
