From Crooks & Liars, comes audio from the Howard Stern show of Rush Limbaugh going off on drug users and addicts. Presumably this was recorded prior to Rush Limbaugh being arrested for obtaining controlled substances illegally, and admitting his addiction to pain killers.
Audio here:
Now, Limbaugh argues that prosecutors should not be allowed access to his medical records, which I agree they shouldn't.
The point here is the rampant hypocrisy that infects all the nooks and cranies of the conservative, right wing, Republican movement. It continues to amaze me that people could still be so stupid as to follow this movement when it is built on lies, deceit, and failure.
To this day, I still see Bill Bennett giving commentary on cable news shows. He admitted to having a massive gambling addiction worth millions of dollars, and people still listen to what he says as if he has any moral authority what-so-ever.
The fact is, NOBODY has that sort of moral authority. It is not in the human condition to be the way the conservatives want us to be. It is not our nature.
Yet, regardless of the many conservatives shown to be lying scumbags and hypocrites, like Limbaugh, there are millions of people out there that will excuse ANYTHING and continue to support them.
I just don't get it - and if somebody can recommend a book that explains why people would allow themselves to be abused in that way, I'd really like to read it. I have a pretty good idea. I think it centers around jealousy and self-loathing, but I'd be curious to see more substantiative arguments on it.
It wouldn't surprise me to see a great example of this craziness in Ohio today. I want to know why that happens.
