Being intolerant of intolerance is not the moral equivalent of being intolerant. Violence is always wrong, everyone agrees. But there are times when violence is justified. For instance, violence is justified in self-defense. Well, being intolerant of the intolerant is simply tolerance acting in its own self-defense. It is justifiable intolerance. - Dan Savage (guest blogging at Sully's)I, for one, hate the hater, and I feel very comfortable doing that. It's the same principle as what Savage describes in being intolerant of intolerance.
One other observation that Savage makes is the shear volume of gay related issues that are constantly in the news. They are constantly being discussed in blogs, and in religious institutions and so on. It is this whole concept of the "gay agenda".
This dull roar of gay issues is NOT the desire of gay people in general. You have to look at which direction the finger is pointing to understand why the discussion is the way it is. Why is there even a perception of a "gay agenda"?
The finger is pointed at us, and those that are doing the pointing are nothing but the most vile of scum. They hide behind the vague concepts of "family values", and "protect marriage!", but in reality they are no different than the Nazi's that murdered 6 million people.
Sounds extreme, doesn't it? It is...
Because when one group points the finger at another group and says they are inferior, that is exactly how you start the process that ends up with shoving bodies into an oven. It's exactly the same mindset, and there is no rational justification for it what-so-ever.
I've said this before, but we need to make sure the BSC's get it. The easiest way to make the whole conversation go away is to simply give gay people all the same rights as anybody else. You can keep on thinking your hateful thoughts the rest of your life if you want to, we won't care, and we won't say a word.
But until that happens, it's only going to get worse. It's going to be in your face, day after day after day... it will never stop until the guarantees of the United States Constitution apply to everyone the same.
And keep one really important thing in mind. Unless you are gay, you really don't know a fucking thing about the issue.. not a god damn thing.
