In other words, "the best information we had at the time" is the catch-all bullshit for every time you operate out of willful ignorance, outright lies, and stupidity. It's a cop-out. It's a way of saying that you're wrong now, but, shit, you weren't wrong then, when, really, and, c'mon, if you're wrong, you're fuckin' wrong, no matter when. From this must-read post from the Rude Pundit. Apparently this Loftus fellow gave out the address of a "terrorist" in Southern California on a Fox News broadcast. The small mistake he made is that the terrorist no longer lives there, but the middle class family that does is getting visits from Bubba and his pals.
Sure, Loftus said he was sorry and that "mistakes happen." But mistakes don't just happen. People make mistakes. Slavering publicity whores make mistakes when they're dry humping the press machine for bigger speaking fees and book contracts. Perhaps they forget that to win a case as a prosecutor, you have to prove something "beyond a reasonable doubt." Ahh, but that's such pre-9/11 thinkin', no?
It's rather amusing that when Bubba spray paints graffiti on a persons house to make a point, he misspells the word.
Which reminds me, I was watching Fox News yesterday and they did some interviews with Chimpy's Crawford neighbors. You know, the type that would run over a war dead memorial in his pickup truck. The people are exactly as you would expect them to be. The brightest one in the city probably has an 8th grade education. That's why Bush seems so dog-gone smart to them.
Anyway, go read the Rude Pundit. That man is pisssssseed!
