In her job, Greenhouse is mandated by Congress to get the best quality at the cheapest price from the most qualified supplier. Over her objections, KBR was awarded three multibillion-dollar war-related contracts, two of them without competitive bidding.KBR is a subsidiary of Halliburton - you know, big Dick Cheney's old company.
Together, they are worth as much as $20 billion -- the entire cost of the Manhattan Project, adjusted to today's dollars.
$20 billion dollars! The administration is crushing this woman and forcing her out. The reason? She's doing her job that she swore to do. They don't like that she's questioning why Dick Cheney's company is getting massive no-bid contracts.
That is such a blatant mis-use of power. Her crime? She caught them stealing tax payer money. Here's hoping an army of Federal prosecutors descend and put them all in jail. Massive fines for Halliburton would be nice also...
But, it's not going to happen. Even in the 21st century, an American President can lie the country into a war, and then steal billions in tax payer money. Yes, we know about it. Some of the media even reports it. But it doesn't matter.
"The abuse related to contracts awarded to KBR represents the most blatant and improper contract abuse I have ever witnessed during the course of my professional career."
