ROVE WAS COOPER'S SOURCE: Well, we kinda knew this already, but it's good to have it confirmed. The salient fact is that Rove appears to have told Cooper about Wilson's wife working at the CIA before the Novak column appeared. Rove was clearly coordinating a message to discredit Wilson by linking him to his wife, and implying that Wilson had no real authorization from the senior levels of the administration. Rove may not be guilty of a crime, if he did not disclose her name and did not know she was undercover. He is guilty of sleaze and spin. But then that's also hardly news, is it? Kinsley differs from the NYT in an interesting piece of counter-intuitive reasoning here.Granted it would be difficult to convict Rove of a crime. He would have to have known that she was undercover, and that would be hard to prove what a person knows. But Rove did not disclose her name? He disclosed that the wife of Amb. Wilson was a CIA agent. And that's not the same thing? What an idiot.
What if Andy was a CIA agent, and somebody outed him as saying "he's that gay, HIV positive, right wing, pro-war blogger, and former TNR editor who got fired from the NY Times, who quit Blogging last February, but couldn't stand not making an ass of himself so came back to write more pearls of idiocy about how Karl Rove naming some guy's wife is not the same as naming her." Would Andy think that the person didn't "name" him, and therefore didn't identify him? Gah
He's guilty of sleaze and spin? Good lord, this is national security. Sleaze and spin is the domain of the Swift Boat Vets, not political hacks outing CIA Agents for retribution on a factually based Op/Ed published in the Times..
No wonder Sully hasn't said anything about this until now. He thinks it's hardly news.. dumbass..
