It seems the Rove story has legs.. That's a good thing. It does detract from Chimpy's over-all piss poor performance, but then that never meant much anyway, did it? He got re-elected (sort of) on the basis of that performance..
Anyway, reading and watching all the blather about Rove, I continue to be amazed by how distracted all the press and pundits are. Actually, the press is doing okay, but the pundits are nuts.
It really is a pretty simple situation, and I find it highly amusing to see the pundits and right wingers turn this into another rehash of the Niger yellowcake-gate situation with Joe Wilson. Again, that's irrelevant and extraneous, isn't it?
I'd simply love to be a guest on Hannity's show..
Hannity: Isn't it true that Joe Wilson claimed his wife didn't send him to Niger?
Me: Arguments can go either way on that, but what does that have to do with this?
Hannity: It shows that Wilson is a liar and out to get the Administration.
Me: And that has what to do with Rove outing a NOC?
Hannity: Oh come on, plenty of people saw her come and go at Langley. It was well known in Washington. She wasn't covert.
Me: And that has what to do with her status at the CIA?
Hannity: You known damn well that Rove was trying to prevent Cooper from publishing misleading and inaccurate information
Me: So he committed a felony to do that?
Hannity: She wasn't covert.
Me: CIA says she was. Who do we believe Sean, you or the CIA? In fact, the CIA referred the issue to the Department of Justice, Sean. That's what this is all about. They don't refer to DoJ for shits and giggles..
Hannity: I'm just a shrill Republican hack who would bury bodies for Karl Rove.
Me: drops over dead..
The other argument I see being made is the "technically, what Rove did is not a violation of law" talking point. How nice that the "family values" crowd, and those that screamed bloody murder about Clinton getting a hummer have lowered their moral standings.
Most Republican Congressmen and Senators are keeping mum, and not commenting. Is there anybody in the world who knows where more bodies are buried than Karl Rove? Doubtful. That's got to scare the piss out of them.
Now, do I take pleasure in this? Absolutely. After watching a man I admire (Clinton) get hammered for doing what most all of us have done (if you haven't, you really should try, it's fun), any chance to get even is welcome. But - I do not support making up bogus shit to get even. Just take the Republican natural propensity to be law breaking scumbags and prosecute the fuck out of them.
Karl Rove has to be the most viscous, vile, piece of shit scum bag, ever to slime the world of politics. Don't believe me? Go ask John McCain.... who I'm quite sure is loving this..
