Book 'em Danno

Just like Karl Rove, I have an attorney now! Of course, due to the on-going criminal investigation, I'm not at liberty to talk about that.

Just kidding..

Anyway, the paralegal tells me that the attorney is going to show up in court and try and get it dismissed on a technicality. Apparently these people know the schedule the cops work, and try to get the court date on the cop's day off. The paralegal certainly knew the cop who wrote me the ticket. Apparently he's quite a ticket writer.

If he can't get it dismissed outright, then he's going to get "deferred adjudication", where if I'm a good boy for 90 days, and pay some sort of fee, the ticket will be dismissed. Worst case scenario is that the ticket gets dismissed and it costs me a couple hundred bucks..

What frosts me is that I really wasn't speeding that much, and certainly was not creating any sort of danger on the road, which is what traffic citations are supposed to be about. This cop was just padding his numbers, and making a few bucks for the City of Allen. It's a scam.

I'm not positive about Allen, but I heard that in Dallas the cops have point quotas and they get a certain number of points for a felony arrest, less for a misdemeanor and so on.. That should be illegal as it obviously encourages the cops to make bullshit arrests and write bullshit tickets - which is what I got.

Well, because that cop was a huge asshole, I allow myself to take satisfaction that I probably make twice the money he does, and I hope he enjoys his miserable job driving around town writing people tickets. How nice for him..

See, that's a good question, and sort of my point. I'm not positive what I was doing, because I was just with the flow of traffic. I was maybe slightly faster then some cars, and slightly slower than others.

He singled me out - probably because of the car, and wrote me 59 in a 40. I don't think I was anywhere near that.. maybe 10 but again I'm just sort of ball parking that figure.

I've had 3 speeding tickets in 22 years of driving, and those 3 I deserved. I either paid the fine or did the traffic school, and that was okay with me.

This one is bogus, so my friend told me about this attorney that specializes in traffic related stuff and hopefully it works out.

The key to the whole attorney thing is to get them dismissed, so your car insurance rates won't go up......signed, former "very good" client of your new ticket attorney.
