I'm glad everything went well with the launch. That has to be one of the most hair raising things a person could do in their life. Imagine sitting on stop of a controlled explosion.
It would be great to see in person. I'd like to do that some time.
My friend John has a kick ass home theatre setup and he recorded the coverage in high definition. That's going to be neat to watch. The sound system shakes the whole freakin house. I'm not kidding.

When I lived in Orlando my house was shaken every time a shuttle landed. I loved it. First we would hear the two sonic booms, then the windows would rattle. It felt like a mini-earthquake. Then exactly 5 minutes later we would see the shuttle touch down on TV. Orlando is 50 miles west of Cape Canaveral. It amazes me that the shuttle travels 50 miles in that 5 minutes. Even better was watching a night launch from my front porch. On a clear night we could see the fireball going higher and higher until it was out of sight. I also remember being in the parking lot of an Eckerd Drug Store on that fateful Janauary morning when Challenger exploded. We were all used to the huge plume of smoke that the shuttle left behind but that day it separated into two plumes. It didn't take long to realize that something was terribly wrong. Then we heard the tragic news. I miss living near the site of the shuttle launches. Maybe I'll get back there to live one day. One can only hope.
