Air America Radio & Sirius, + odds & ends

I didn't choose Sirius over XM, it just came with the car. In reality, both Sat networks have a wide variety of music, and you can't go wrong with either. Sat radio is more than worth the money.

When Sirius signed on Air America Radio, I was quite pleased. It was nice to hear a nationally syndicated liberal program, to stand counter to the Rush Limabaugh's of the world.

As a quick aside, Rush's drug addiction case, where he illegally obtained controlled substances, is still in process. I think the latest development is that the prosecutor gets to look at the medical records, which I am strongly opposed to. You either got the drugs illegally, or you didn't. Your condition is irrelevant.

Anyway, AAR was doing pretty well, but they hired Jerry Springer for their morning program. Springer is a tool. He is not a true liberal - he just plays one for profit. He's also not that articulate, and his style is aggravating.

Still, it was nice to have Al Franken, and Randi Rhodes is awesome. The group they have on in the evening does a nice job also.

This morning, driving to work, it was evident Sirius didn't have AAR anymore. They had their own "talk left" program on the channel. Apparently AAR is on XM now. That's disappointing. I don't see why that can't have AAR on both? They would reach a lot more listeners that way.

Oh well... at least Sirius will have Howard Stern, uncensored, next January. That should be interesting. Most of the Stern show is sophomoric, but it can be very amusing also. I'll be curious to see what he does.

In the end, satellite radio is about the music, regardless if XM or Sirius. It's awesome, and if your next car doesn't have it, you're totally missing out.

Oh.. and I got a speeding ticket yesterday, from a city of Allen fascist. He said I was doing 59 in a 40, but I don't think so. I was pretty much staying with the flow of traffic. I asked him if he got me on radar, and he said he did. I asked him if he locked the radar, and he said he did. I asked him to see the radar (which I've done in the past) and he said NO, claiming it was an "officer safety issue". I told him that he could frisk me if he wanted, and that I only wanted to stand outside his car and look at the reading on the radar gun. He said that he wasn't required to let me see it, and that he wasn't going to argue with me (he was a total dick).

Now, make no mistake, there have been times that I deserved a speeding ticket. Hell, I've done 140 before. This just wasn't one of those times. If I was speeding, he could have chosen anybody near me, but they were driving SUV's and ordinary sedans - not a sportscar.

Maybe he picked me because I drive a car that costs a years wages for him..

Anybody know if it's true that the police can refuse to let you see the locked radar speed? I think I'm going to fight this one.

Oh.. and apparently "Fantastic Four" made 56 million over the weekend, despite being a trite piece of trash. That's disapointing because it tells Hollywood that they can make any kind of super hero garbage and people will go see it. We need more sophisticated and intelligent movies, not more of that kind of crap.
