Updates

I'm nearly back to my regular routine now. I was off most of yesterday, and about half of the day today, which is kind of nice.

There's not much new in the way of personal news for me today. I did catch up on two episodes of Queer as Folk, and an episode of Six Feet Under. It's a real bummer that both shows, as well as the upcoming Sopranos are in their last season. I watch very few TV shows, and 3 of my favorites are ending. In fact, I'm hard pressed to think of another show I watch besides South Park, and the Daily Show.

Perhaps it's time for Six Feet Under to wrap it up though. Some of the plot lines are borderline silly. George going completely nuts and having ECT is an example. It's dumb.

The problem with the show really is that it has become overly depressing. You can have a good drama without everyone being completely psychotic all the time.

QaF is a better show in my view. It can get silly melodramatic at times, but it can also be fun at times. The writing just gets too raw and predictable on occasion.

Still, Brian Kinney is my hero. In fact, he is the archetypical gay superhero in nearly every way. He likes to come off as narcissistic, but clearly there is an underlying empathy. He seems to want to be happy, but being happy isn't really his style. Perhaps because he's more realistic than most - which is odd for a TV character.

The Brian Kinney character is the best writing in the show, and the acting of Gale Harold is perfect. I think the casting and acting on the show is wonderful. Each actor seemingly is the character.

I must confess I have many of the same traits as Brian - for better and worse. The one trait I don't have in common is his ability to make huge piles of cash.

By the way.. Watching TV (and DVD's) in big screen HD with house shaking sound systems is pretty neat. I often have to talk John into buying things, but afterward he doesn't regret it. If there is a side benefit to me.. well, that's just a bonus.

As Ferris Bueller would say... if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

Now.. about that BMW..
