Iraq

Sometimes when we read news stories, or talk about politics in Iraq, we forget there are real human beings involved. A story about a car bomb just says "4 Iraqi's were killed" for instance. It's just a number to us, but they are human beings with the same desires as the rest of us, just caught at the wrong place at the wrong time.

That's one of the things that bothers me about right wingers. They truly want a holy war on Muslims. Because of the way information is given to us, we lose track of the truth that the vast majority of Muslims are just human beings. Prior to 9/11, there was a growing secular movement in Islam.

No doubt there are violent Islamic fundamentalists, and they need to be opposed vigorously. I also think we need to oppose Christian fundamentalists. But I just think we need to be reminded of the humanity of the situation. Because of that, I'm going to post some pictures from Iraq.

It amazes me that with all the carnage, they can even smile.
