Sadly, No! is a web site devoted to exposing the lies. This one is really good;
Over at WorldNetDaily, Kevin McCullough is yet another nut extremely preoccupied by condoms and related matters:The right-wing propaganda machine seems to want to destroy Bill and Hillary Clinton at all costs. I know quite a few conservative types that will froth at the mouth in regard to Bill Clinton, but if you ask them why, you get that same deer caught in the headlights look. They don't know why they hate Clinton, but they are programmed to froth at the mouth anyway because other conservatives do, and they want to fit in. It's a pavlovian response, and it's pretty sad that a person has to be told what their opinion is instead of formulating it on their own. I honestly believe it is the nature of a person who identifies as "conservative" to be a follower, and not a leader, and definately not a critical thinker. They want to be part of the team, and not an outsider. And, they will do whatever it takes to earn the approval of the leaders they follow. Even if it means shutting off their thinking.
"It was no secret that condom use in America under her husband's leadership was at an all time ... er ... high. A lot of things were: the flow of pornography, teen pregnancy, abortion and, yes, the use of, discussion of, demonstrations in public schools of ... condoms."
Ah Kevin, Kevin, Kevin. There's something we need to tell you, and it goes a little something like this: SADLY, NO!
Teen pregnancy rates have reached historic lows dropping 25 percent from 1990 to 1999. The birth rate dropped 19 percent and the abortion rate was down 39 percent in this age group.
That's gotta hurt we don't care where you come from.
What else happened in the 1990s?
The pregnancy rate for unmarried women has continuously declined through the 1990s.
The fact of the matter is, Bill Clinton turned this country around and had it headed in the right direction. Remember the 90's? Good times mate! Now we have death and destruction at every turn.
What is all this talk about family values anyway? I might just have to post on it in more detail this week.. But the one message that we should all take from this post. Right-wingers, Religious-theocrats, and the Republican party are influencing the conventional wisdom in this country.. by making shit up. It's about time for the mainstream media to start confronting this. I want Tom Brokaw to open his news cast with;
"Today, at WorldNetDaily, Kevin McCullough lied about pregnancy and abortion rates under the Clinton Administration. In other news, President Bush lied about the Social Security Administrations fiscal soundness, once again utilizing fear to sell a policy proposal".
I'm serious. Why don't they do that on news casts? It's absolutely correct, and might discourage these people from lying all the time. The closest thing you'll find is The Daily Show - With Jon Stewart, on Comedy Central.
This may sound flippant, but I am convinced that what is behind the conservative agenda right now, is sex. They aren't getting laid, and don't want anybody else to either. I'm not joking. Bill Clinton was getting the knob polished on a regular basis, and life was good. Think Bush is getting any? Seriously..
Thank God (or not, if that's your thing) that they haven't figured out how to drag the rest of the world along for the ride. Canada anyone? Sounds good to me...
