Monday Catch Up

So.. lets see.. Johnny Carson died over the weekend. I watched his show on occasion, years ago. He was obviously very good at his job. He certainly did have a huge impact on TV and stand up comedy.

Lets see how we did in football. Last week I wrote -

I'll take the Eagles over the Falcons. Once again I'm using the "you can't fail ALL the time" method for my pick, which almost worked last time. The Eagles have been flirting with the big trip for a long time, this time they get it.

Next, I like the Patriots over the Steelers. The Pittsburgh quarterback is a rookie, and he's going to play like one.
Well now... Imagine that. Two for two. Do I have to pick the super bowl winner today? Hmmm... I think I'll take a week and think about it. The easy pick is the Pats, but there might be more to it. We'll see..

I watched two movies over the weekend. Actually one, The Hunting of the President, was a documentary. It's pretty dry, but if you want to see the Republican sleaze machine in action, it's impressive. Ken Starr spent 70 million dollars investigating the Clintons over White Water, and all he came up with was sex. Whose 70 million dollars? Yours. It was all tax payer money.

On the DVD, there is an extra of Bill Clinton talking to an audience about the movie for about 20 minutes. He is an amazing public speaker. He really did understand, very well, the attacks that were going on at the time.

Can you imagine President Bush getting up in front of an audience and speaking spontaneously for 20 minutes?

The other movie I saw was Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy. It was crap. I had a few laugh-out-load moments, but for the most part it was just stupid. It was refreshing to see that they didn't take themselves too seriously, but that only works if the movie is genuinely funny. I'll rate it 2 stars out of 5.

I do have some good movies in my Netflix queue to watch. Hopefully I'll have some positive movie reviews coming up later this week.

I guess that's about it for now. I had a low-key weekend. I did a bit of shopping and played a bunch of WoW. My cable modem is still acting up. It's really getting on my nerves.
