Obama

I like to think of myself as a very skeptical and astute person, but I bought it.. I bought it all. I bought hope and change. I even gave them money, voluntarily.

I think for a lot of us, what came before prepared us for the deception. I wasn't very tuned into politics during the Clinton administration, and I saw the abject horror of the Bush 8 years. I really did think it was possible to have a President who was just a person who would make sensible choices about the direction of the country.

That's not how it works in the United States, and it's like this hush hush crack-pot conspiracy theory to even think for a second that there is more going on behind the scenes than we think is possible.

We have a democracy. We get some candidates that run for political office, and I honestly don't know how much control the winner has in determining how it all plays out. You'd like to think that even if there are very wealthy people pulling the strings, that there is a point where even more money doesn't really mean anything, and they would advocate policies that benefit us as a nation before other nations.

At this point, I really have no idea. The one thing that I do know is that the charade that Obama played on all of us is not reality. That's not what's going on. There's a lot more to it, and whether that's good news for us, or bad news, I have no idea.

I still sometimes think that powerful interests are trying to accelerate the transfer of national wealth from the poor and middle class to the wealthy, but again, how much is enough? At what point is there diminishing returns on wealth? You can't buy extra time on this Earth, so why try and soak more out of the unwashed masses?

There is a point that can be reached where the masses pull a French style revolution, and simply kill everyone with money. I have no doubt about that. There's enough populist anger where it's possible that could happen, and it does seem to me that we're fed just enough to keep us passive.

There's lots of conspiracy theories about what's going on.. but really.. the only thing I know is that Barack Obama is not the person we thought he was, and this sort of pleasurable buzz we all got when he was elected was just an illusion.

Presidents only last 8 years. Whatever is going on behind the scenes is eternal.

The moral of the story is.. as it always is.. to get yours, because there is a way to carve out your own niche where all of that other shit becomes so much background noise.

And then you die.

I think your feeling of being let down has more to do with your political climate.

A two party system is bullshit and generates inefficiencies because two parties split a nation in half and pit them against each other.

Here in Canada we have 5 viable parties. 2 of which hold the most power while the other 3 hold moderate power. More then not a single party cannot do something without the support of another. Canadian politicians have no choice but to work WITH other parties.

IMO, the best thing that could come to America during the next election cycle is a viable third party.

No, it has to do with Obama's policies.

There's not really that much difference between Obama and Bush, in terms of policy.

And a 3rd party will never gain any traction.

We have 3 parties in Australia, but the 3rd is the stinky Hippy party(Greens). I miss the 4th one (our democrats).

Right now you have a choice between Conservative, Ultra Conservative and Hippies.

Your ultra conservatives are probably about the same as our hippies.

Except when it comes to banning games of course.. then they're all completely insane.

Lol the regular conservative's are the ones in power at the moment, the ultra's are Howard's old party... now being run by Tony Abbott.

And yeah, they're pretty close to your hippies I guess.
