The former vice president, the man who imported torture into the American constitutional system, failed to capture bin Laden, invaded a country under false pretenses, allowed the Afghanistan campaign to disintegrate, and added $5 trillion to the next generation's debt burden, is attacking a sitting president on a day he announces a critical military strategy in front of his troops. - Andrew Sullivan
Umm.. Sullivan supported that invasion, which resulted in many many thousands of human beings being killed.. whist simultaneously accusing the Dirty Fucking Hippies of being traitors for not going along with the program.
He later said.. "my bad", then patted himself on the back for having the intellectual honesty to admit a mistake.

Greenwald on George Bush V2.0
The important thing, of course, is to try and make sure you and yours are not adversely affected by the endless wars. Eventually, somebody in charge is going to have to admit that it's not possible to turn a big stretch of sand into an American lovin' bastion of freedom.
I guess the analogies to Vietnam are old hat by now, but if you look at the names on the wall, it's depressing to realize that they all died and nothing was achieved other than a lot of dead human beings.
People don't want to think that could actually be happening now, and so they keep pretending like there's some glorious victory yet to come.
And the song remains the same.
