Week 9

The Giants lost their 4th in a row, and the Cowboys beat the Eagles to move to 6-2 and sole lead of the NFC East.

The game wasn't particularly exciting. There were a number of mistakes from both teams, and the Dallas offense looked stale, with the exception of their 2nd drive, which resulted in a touch down. The protection was shoddy, as if the linemen didn't know who to pick up in the Eagles blitz. The defense was solid, with the exception of a few mistakes, but they made big stops when they needed to.

Miles Austin was rewarded with his recent play by double teams, freeing up other receivers. Roy Williams finally caught a few balls, but you don't see the big run after catch potential from him that you do with Austin, or even Jason Witten. Austin did catch one ball, and promptly took it some 40 yards for a TD.

The Eagles are a good team, and the Cowboys did just enough to get by. It didn't hurt that the Eagles coach made bad decisions all game long, but you can't count on that sort of thing every week. The Cowboys were not solid in all 3 phases. The kicker wasn't even getting touchbacks, and the punter was not his usual self in pinning the other team back to their goal line.

We'll take the win, but the Cowboys can be championship caliber if they just play sound, fundamental football and eliminate the mental errors. If they settle for their performance from last night, they'll never make it out of the first round of the playoffs.

Yeah, the Cowboys didn't look great. I half watched the game while dabbling in Dragon Age. They're gonna have some serious tests in the NFC as far as playoffs go.

My money is on the obvious choice
Saints and Vikings right now. I still think the Giants are a better team, but have been shitty lately.

It's starting to look like the Cardinals will grab the west again, but I still haven't given up hope that Hawks can steal it at 9-7 or a miraculous 10-6.

Speaking of the Hawks, they had one of the worst quarters ever in the 1st against the Lions, but really pulled it together to score the rest of the points in the game and get a much needed win against a shitty team.

We're half way done now and it's still really exciting, which again is why the NFL is a great league.

That's why I think the Cowboys can contend for the Super Bowl. Philly is a very good team, and the Cowboys still won, playing a very average game. The defense can be dominating, so if the offense can keep steady, they'll do well.

There were some plays where they seemed befuddled on how to handle the blitz... and I still have big problems with the offensive coordinator.

The Hawks.. umm.. don't have a chance, even in a weak division. Granted I've only seen them play one game, but they looked totally over matched by the Cowboys. Arizona will win that division.

Seriously.. they've got AZ and Minn coming up. The latter end of the schedule is mostly weak (TB and Houston), but if they're 3-7 after the next two games, it's over.

You liking Dragon Age? I might give it a go before long.

I agree, the Hawks have to win the next two, or at least get a win over Arizona to still have a chance. Proving they can play with the likes of both those teams would be nice. I don't have high hopes though.

Dragon Age is pretty cool, I'm hoping to find another good chunk of time to play it in the coming days. I'm only about 2 hours in playing an Elf Mage. The melee actually looks like it could be more fun, but I'll run the Mage around for awhile.

The story is pretty good too. There are some pretty blatant similarities with George R. R. Martin's a Song of Ice and Fire, but that's ok since Martin's books are so good. :)

All in all I say it's worth a play if not two or three. Only thing I wish it had was online and/or lan play, but I guess it's nice to just hunker down and play a game by yourself every now and again. :)
