Math is Hard

Professor K;

And this isn’t just a phenomenon of the last few months. Look back at stock returns under recent presidents, which is easy using a clever gadget at Political Calculations. Taking real, dividend-inclusive annual returns on the S&P 500, I get:

Reagan: 10.08%
Bush I: 10.16%
Clinton: 14.35%
Bush II: minus 5.81%

Kinda strange the way that Republican presidents are supposed to be the "pro-business" lackeys.

Who would have thought that the highest returns over the last 30 years would come from a Democratic President?

So why do all the rich people support Republican policies? It's the tax rate. You might get a 4% higher return rate under a Democrat, but if you can get your tax rate drastically reduced.. you come out ahead.

Nearly all the political memes that exist are actually backwards.
