Among Republicans… only 27% say Obama actually won the race, with 52% — an outright majority — saying that ACORN stole it, and 21% are undecided. Among McCain voters, the breakdown is 31%-49%-20%. By comparison, independents weigh in at 72%-18%-10%, and Democrats are 86%-9%-4%.
The thing about the Republican party is.. that's where the racist religious freaks call home now. Because they are wired to believe anything (JESUS!!!!) that reinforces a built-in bias, it makes perfect sense to them that Obama didn't win in an electoral land-slide.
This is exactly why you see the right wing attack on science and eduction. You have to be a really stupid fuck to buy into the lunatic theories. The problem that results, of course, is that they're fairly successful at it. There are entire swaths of the nation where anti-intellectualism runs rampant.. and they actually embrace the stupid.
I'm not sure if that's going to change. There is definitely a culture war going on.. and the foot soldiers are the crazy fuckers like Doug.. booted out of university no less.. who simply want to make sure people are too fucking stupid to actually have a firm grasp on reality.
I really have no idea which way it's going to go. I can find positives either way.. and we can always just get the fuck out if we want.
