Andrea Mitchell, of the Liberal cable network MSNBC, just had David Broder followed by Pat Buchanan as guests.

Broder insists that the progressive wing of the Democratic party must give in on the inclusion of a public option in the health care bill, lest they face a big failure in the next election.

Buchanan insists that Obama must follow the request of the commander in Afghanistan to increase troop levels, lest the Democrats face a big failure in the next election.

Apparently the Democrats must do this, because Broder and Buchanan were so spot-on in predicting the results of the last election.

It's rather amazing the way there is this cabal of old political geezers that have zero understanding of how things have changed. They're the wise sages of political wisdom, and in that world the "center" is always the place to be, because there never is a true right and wrong..

MSNBC just spent 40 minutes of non-stop coverage of a press conference with the police on the balloon boy saga. The press spent most of that time trying to convince the cop that it was all a hoax.
