The Crumbling Empire

By comparison, however, the United States has budgeted $68 billion for its military and civilian effort in Afghanistan in the current fiscal year.

Kind of strange how we give companies money so they don't collapse.. and then think it's a great idea to have the most expensive military in history, and wage endless wars. As Greenwald notes, that price tag is going to go way up if Obama sends more resources to Afghanistan.

The talking heads on teevee never ask the obvious question. What do we hope to gain from the war? By war, of course, I mean killing as many "terrorists" as possible.

Anybody think we can actually change the culture? Anyone? Just one person think we can kill enough people so that we don't have to worry about getting killed in our sleep by the boogie man? Just one?

I have an idea.. how about this.

We destroy religion.. world wide. We have a war on theism.. and we wage that war through education, good will, and true assistance to those we think are trying to kill us.

I know.. I know.. it's not very realistic, but the problem of Islamic terrorism isn't the terrorists.. it's Islam.. just as they think the problem is Christianity. They're both right, of course. Destroy religion, and there's really no need for wars, nor massive military spending. The world would be so much better off.

Knowing that the nation is fucked.. it's probably better just to think about how to take advantage of that, and look for a nice place to live once you've made your fortune.
