Kos

Very interesting bio of Markos Moulitsas here:

It's so strange to me that people go from nowhere to everywhere in a seeming blink of an eye. It's like these people have the ability to stand up and demand to be recognized and they are. Nobody knew who Markos was 4 years ago, and today he's basically steering the Democratic party, or at the very least, he has the leadership's attention. That's what 3.5 million unique readers a week can do for a person.

The common trait with these types of people is a relentless drive and energy. I go through streaks, but I can't sustain it. An old boss of mine used to tell me that I was a "sprinter". In anything I'm interested in, I can be obsessive in the extreme for short periods of time. People like Markos sprint for 26 miles.

Personally, I don't read The Daily Kos much anymore. It would be the same if I started writing a bunch of stuff about software programming. Kos has become a political geek site. Americablog seems to be where the real passion is at now.

While reading the bio, I was struck by the generalizations of the Kos community demographics. I fit it. I really don't know what the means, beyond being a product of an environment I suppose.

He paused for a minute, looking unusually non-agitated. “So the point is I know I have only a certain amount of time like this, and I'd like to make sure I do something useful with it.”
Meanwhile.. I'll head home from a boring day at work (where I made a lot of money), and play warcraft all night. I know I should be doing something more.. but I can never seem to find the will.
