Target Update

Americablog has an update here on Target's response to inquiries from concerned customers that their prescriptions are being denied because the pharmacist is fucking crazy.

Like many other retailers, Target has a policy that ensures a guest's prescription for emergency contraception is filled, whether at Target or at a different pharmacy, in a timely and respectful manner. This policy meets the health care needs of our guests while respecting the diversity of our team members.
Which is essentially saying "Fuck you sinner. Go get your god damn Satan pills elsewhere".

So, if you want the easiest job in the world, become a pharmacists who is a Christian Scientist, and just sit on your ass all day because you morally object to dispensing any medication to any person for any reason. After all, it's all part of "God's plan", right?

Now, I wish I could figure out a way to write a computer program that doesn't work when the person using it is a bat-shit crazy Christian. I write software that is used in Surgical units of hospitals around the nation, and in fact world-wide. Patient safety is the MOST important thing that we keep in mind when we design and code. The software is even used during a surgery to keep track of different things.

I guess what I could do is this.

R !,"Is this patient a bat-shit crazy evangelical Christian",SRBSC
I SRBSC="YES" W !,"The developer of this software suite believes that Christians are the largest source of death and destruction in the history of humanity, and he is morally opposed to his work being used to treat anyone who adheres to that evil philosophy."
QUIT
But then, I don't externalize my hatred like Christians do. I would never do such a thing, but they are routinely doing it now.

It works like this..

They have this crazy made-up bullshit religious freak-a-zoid belief system. Their minds are warped with hatred for people different then themselves, and they hate who I am and everything about me.

YaY - good for them. That's all fine and good. Hate me, I don't care.

Then it suddenly occurred to the crazy Christians that they haven't externalized their hatred through action in many years. In other words, there hasn't been a bloody crusade to kill as many "non-believers" as possible in quite a long time. So, emboldened because this country elected a rapture freak, they decide it's about time for them to strike out in anger at those they hate.

And as far as I'm concerned, that's crossing the line. That goes from having your own private hate for me to actually acting on it.

oh.. and by the way, by "me" I'm referring to anyone who the BSC's think is a "sinner".

So, the crazy Christians start making moral judgments on a person who asks for emergency contraception, assuming of course that that person needs the contraception because they did something evil. Oh my god!

And the crazy Christians tell me I can't get married because I'm not like them. And they tell us we can't be in the boy scouts. And they tell us we can't be protected from being fired from our job because we are different.

In other words, they are intentionally causing physical, emotional, and financial harm to those of us who choose not to be insane with made up religious bullshit identities.

In the meantime, the software I write helps ALL people, it doesn't matter who they are. I'd expect there have been "terraists" treated in US government facilities and I'll bet my code was used to better treat them. I feel good about that, for the same reason a surgeon would who saves the life of another human being. I believe in the "culture of life" and that includes the best health care for every human being regardless who they are.

But it's getting awfully hard to truly have the Jesus philosophy of "turn the other cheek" that his own, self-proclaimed, followers so easily abandon.

I don't know if Jesus truly was "divine" or not. It doesn't really matter either way, does it? But - if he was.. and he showed up one day.. I'd be willing to wager that he'd rather hang out with me than Pat Robertson, or Jerry Fallwell, or any of those angry bitches on the side of the road holding their stupid signs that I see in Dallas.. or anybody who stood outside Terri Schiavo's hospice...

I kinda like that I don't give a shit how crazy they want to be... and I don't care if they think I'm crazy.. they just better start fucking leaving us alone the way we leave them alone.. or else I might turn into a person Jesus wouldn't want to hang out with.... and I'd really hate that..
