More and more Americans are Liberals. The effort now is to brand "Conservative" as corrupt warmongers whose sole purpose is to increase the income disparity in this nation.
The biggest problem with Liberalism is the word itself, it's branding. That trend is reversing, and it's becoming "trendy" (I guess is a way to say it) to be anti-Conservative..
I've always said that the vast majority of Americans really are Liberals, even if they don't know it. Jennifer is like the poster child for that. She really is a raging Liberal, but like the personal investment she's made in religion, she's made in Conservatism as well. Her entire essence is ingrained in it, and it becomes unthinkable that it's all bullshit.
This is probably not Jennifer's situation.. but imagine somebody else.. whose husband is gun freak country western humming war mongering hyper-masculine white guy.. and you've been the good little girl and housewife and mother.. and then suddenly, you start to suspect that you agree with those hippies on just about everything.. like say.. same-sex marriage.
Suddenly, you become afraid of your husband..
Easier to stay a "Conservative". Easier to just thow a minor tantrum about how mean the Liberals are and say "I'm a true blue Conservative.. yes I am!!!".
just sayin'
...
The more Democratic politicians claim to be proud Liberals, while explaining exactly what that means, the better they'll do. Win by policy.. and take back the word.
The entire world is becoming more Liberal.. and being out front and showing some leadership will be a successful strategy.

I truly laughed out loud at the whole husband scenario, not even close. He is pretty close to the same mind set as I am. No gun waving, nor war mongering hubby here.
It is interesting that you brought this subject up because I've been having a discussion with someone regarding my beliefs and I'm finding them to be all over the map. I've been reading articles.... and to tell you the truth, I don't know where I stand. A "conservative liberal" or a "liberal conservative?" I don't fit the classic example of anything.
I like tradition and consider myself patriotic. It bothers me when people try and change the Pledge of Allegiance. Or National Anthem. They have meaning to me and are a sense of pride. The multicultural movement sometimes takes away from being an “American“. If you live in America, you are not an Asian American or an African American, you are simply an American period. Be proud of who you are, I certainly am, but I consider myself an American first and a German/Norwegian/Czech second.
I am pro-life, which I know isn’t particularly “liberal” but I value the sanctity of life.
I am against affirmative action. Years ago it was needed but I think that in today’s society everyone is equal regarding race. I think it sucks that my father didn’t get a promotion that was deserved because he wasn’t black and was told that directly.
I think that the poor/disabled need help because not everybody is privileged or wealthy enough to afford a good education and a great job. I understand that more than many because being disabled isn’t easy and it certainly is not by choice.
I feel we need to protect ourselves from terrorism diligently and if we happen to search anyone of Arab decent that looks suspicious we should have every right to, offended or not!
I am against immigration! This is an issue where there is no gray. It is pure black and white. Come into this country legally or don’t come in at all!
I feel gays deserve all the same rights as straight people do. Yes, I do know that is definitely a “liberal” view.
The death penalty is an issue I struggle with because I feel that someone that murders and rapes a 12 year old child should be punished to the max, but at the same time, I don’t feel it is my right to play God with their life.
I am not going to get into healthcare, because I don’t have any answers in that regard. What we have now is obviously not working and I don’t know if anyone really has the right answer in finding a way to change that.
You know my beliefs regarding religion, which I hold strongly too.
So in a nutshell, if you could call it that, there are my beliefs set in front of you. I’m really interested in your point of view regarding everything I just wrote, and I admit to a curiosity to see where you think I fit in. As I said before, I don’t really think I fit into a certain category not even a typical conservative, anymore.
