I can hardly see how anyone ought to wish Christianity to be true; for if so, the plain language of the text seems to show that the men who do not believe, and this would include my Father, Brother, and almost all my best friends, will be everlastingly punished. And this is a damnable doctrine.

This is the core paradigm of Christianity, and it is the fundamental evil of that religion. It is what sets the Christians apart from the rest of religion.

Further, if you don't believe that all non-Christians are damned, you are not really a Christian (by your own scriptures), and you too are damned.

This is why, all other considerations aside.. people like Doug Gibbs are the most vile human beings on the planet.
